Food's a bit pricey but you get decent portion sizes and everything I've ever had from here has been pretty good. Potato skins are alright, gnocchi is really good, Sicilian sampler that comes with ravioli, spaghetti, lasagna, and Italian sausage is good but the sausage is always I bit too tangy for my taste. Delivery takes awhile but so order about an hour in advance of when you think you may want to actually eat. Overall, a pretty solid Italian food option for the area. We've tried most and Ferlito's is only 1 of 2 that we frequent. Salvatore Scallopini being the other.

Great family run place. Kid friendly. Had the white pizza with spinach and it was amazing. My wife and mother-in-law had the normal pizza and loved it. Complimentary fresh Italian bread. We'll definitely come back!

Excellent Italian food! I am a veggie and ordered the vegetarian lasagna and it was great! Service was good and waiter was fairly attentive. Huge portion, too, which I just finished up for lunch. Salad bar was good--just enough to add to my dinner, without being overwhelming. Didn't have the soup because it was not vegetarian but my husband said it was good. Hubbie pronounced the veal parmesan very good and he is a veal parmesan-aholic, so that is saying something. Nice wine and beer selection, too. Prices were very reasonable--13.95 for my huge "slab" of veggie lasagna, salad bar, and soup if I had wanted it. Wish I had left room for pie because the lemon meringue looked awesome...alas, I will just have to return (what a hardship, lol).

I've only been there once. I had a personal size pizza which I thought was good. If I remember, it was a lot of food. It looked like they were doing a pretty steady takeout business too.

If you are looking for friendly, fresh and fun go to Ferlito's because our waiter Andrew was awesome. He is very knowledgeable about the food and spirits they serve. We walked out of the restaurant very satisfied. Give Ferlito's a shot you'll enjoy the expericen.

Great basic Italian food. Nothing fancy, just fresh homemade food. I can echo the comments about great staff as well. We have only visited twice, but the wife said we will have to go back at least twice a month.

We went in with high hopes due to the reviews. We were really disappointed. The calamari was chewy and just awful. The pizza was ok-it was lacking seasoning. I really want to support local, family owned restaurants, but it's just not going to be Ferlitos.

Very good Italian food. Quaint setting with friendly service. The food is clearly homemade and the taste reflects the authenticity. Meat Ravioli with red sauce is fantastic. I added meatballs to the order and was very pleased to have homemade, hand shaped meatballs instead of pressed pre-made meatballs. The salad bar is fresh and a nice touch. The New England Clam Chowder was definitely made fresh and with some skill. It isn't always on the menu, but their Chicken Noodle is so popular you can't go wrong. The pizza is fresh and incredible. You can't go wrong if your out for authentic Italian food and are sick of the chain restaurant's. The average price meal is around 13.00. Don't let the prices scare you off if your not use to paying that kind of money for a single dinner, believe me, it is worth the extra 3.00 over the average Italian restaurant menu price and the food is miles away from theirs.

It's the best Italian food, I've had. Andrew is the best waiter ever. Lasagna is the bomb. In fact, I haven't had a bad meal. Tried about 10 different things so far. And the pies, are awesome. Make sure, you take home some. You won't regret it, later. Trying a pizza for the first time take out and the cheesy bread you gotta try it yummy yum yum

This is a real nice neighborhood type Italian restaurant. Huge selection of Italian dishesand also pizza, ribs, lots of homemade pies. I ordered the breaded zucchini appetizer. Came out hot and sizzling. Serve with homemade Marinara and Ranch, the dish was cooked to perfection. The flavor was excellent, I would rate at the best fried zucchini I've ever had. The salad bar was unremarkable, not great but adequate. I ordered the lasagna for dinner. It came in a very generous pasta boat, It was the size of about two normal home sized slices baked with cheese and sauce. There marinara sauce is really tasty, even a bit sweet. It would be what I would consider a traditional flavor, fairly mild, no heavy herbs or seasonings. The lasagna was excellent, and I also ordered two meatballs, which were also very good. Others in my party ordered various stations and everyone enjoyed them all. Service was top rate and personable--friendly and each dish came out hot when it was hot, and we had a very enjoyable meal. I highly recommend this restaurant for families, and people who are looking for good, traditional Italian food at a reasonable cost.

I've been here twice with my family. What a great place! The price is just right for the portion and the atmosphere is very friendly and fit for families. The menu is great, except every dish seems to have at least one flaw. Instead of writing a full-out essay, I'll just list them for the readers' convenience. Chicken Marsala: The chicken was cooked perfectly and the pasta was al dente. Flaw: Sauce was very, very watery. The cook didn't let the sauce reduce enough or didn't drain the pasta enough before adding to the dish. Also, it was plated very sloppy (but it's a family restaurant, who cares?). Pesto Pizza: The cheese was gooey and stringy and everything tasted fresh. Flaw: The whole pizza overall was very bland. It could've used a lot more salt or other flavors. Also, the crust was pretty soggy. Lasagna: Man, the portion is great! The cheese and sauce tasted very fresh. Flaw: There are too many pasta layers and too little filling. Salad Bar: The salad bar is kept on top of ice so the lettuce stays crisp. There's also a pretty good variety of toppings. Flaw: Imitation bacon bits. Why, why, why?! It makes me feel like I'm back to the bad cafeteria salad bar in elementary school. Seriously, serve the real stuff or don't serve it at all! Key Lime Pie: These pies are super good. It has the perfect balance of sweetness and tartness. Also, the bottom part of the crust is flaky and not soggy. In fact, it was so good, I tried to make it at home. It just was not the same. I love the key lime pie so much, it kills me to write the flaw part. :( Flaw: The Key Lime Pie was green. That's what you'd except right? But no. Real, legit key lime pies are suppose to be golden yellow. They get their color from the yolk and the key lime juice, which are both yellow. I just wish they would stop putting in unnecessary food coloring. If you are going to Ferlito's, there's basically two things you HAVE to try: The salad bar and the pies. (I recommend the pie the most)

This is one of the places I've given up on. The pizza can be good, sometimes. As far as the rest of the food, well not so much. I've had a couple pasta dishes and been less than impressed with the flavor or the temperature of the food. Cold Alfredo is awful and the ravioli my daughter had was so bad she couldn't eat it. I tried it and don't blame her, I didn't even bother bringing it home to give the dog. The waitress asked her about it and when she was told it was awful, the response was a shrug and "That's too bad, you didn't like it". No offer to take it off the bill or bring something else. I don't wait in line for substandard food or service with a bad attitude and we've had both more than once.

This is our good 'old stand by. It's a family restaurant, so it's great to take our daughter to. The staff is friendly and we've never been disappointed with the food. The only thing i think i could give constructive critisicm is the salad bar could use a few more items, otherwise this place is great.

Best food in Grosse Pointe. Also the best priced too. Veal parm coming in at $13 is a STEAL and it's wonderful. The pizza is also worth ordering. I've had essentially everything on the menu at least twice and never disappointed. I do about 75% carry outs and dine in the rest. Always have a decent server. They do have beer and wine.

  • Sandra B.

Ferlito's has really good Italian food. I have tried much of what is on the menu, and I have never had anything that I didn't like. My mother is a veal parmesan fan, but she is the pickiest person in North America - she has said that this place is her favorite for veal. Plus, they have very good pizza - they make a pretty traditional pizza. This family restaurant in GP is definately one of the better options in the area. It is not at all pretentious, and the service is very good as well. If you don't want to dine in, they also have take out.

As a semi-professional Italian-food-ologist, I've eaten at a lot of Italian places. I also usually shy away from any place with an open salad bar because I'm super judgey and I think they reside in low-quality joints. So Ferlito's had a high bar to hit. But Ferlito's has hit it. I keep coming back because they are consistent and tasty. This isn't super fancy Italian fare, just nice 'Friday Night Out With The Family' style food. The sauce is always good, the service is great... I keep coming back because I know I won't have any surprises here, even if they're busy. I came by myself on Valentine's Day (I know, it's sad) and had service and food like I would have any other night. I like to order off of their specials menu as I've never been disappointed. But if you're craving some Italian staple from the regular menu, you'll be happy too. It's just nice, good food. My inlaws usually go in with a coupon, but I'm fine to pay full price. I'm supporting a small business and the food is worth it.

Seriously. If I owned a restaurant, I would steal the staff - such amazing people and had a great sense of humor. The food came in great portions and was EXCELLENT! We were considering ordering a mass order of different types of food to share because everything that came out looked amazing! The restaurant wasn't overly crowed, but they seemed to do very well on the carry-outs as they seemed slammed.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
